PubMed & Google Scholar Saliva Search Guide

Finding Saliva-based references is easy! We use PubMed and Google Scholar – but if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always Ask an Expert for search guidance or try some of the suggestions below.

PubMed

Search PubMed for saliva references!
You can use Boolean operators (AND, OR, or NOT) to influence how many records you retrieve:

  • Use AND to search only for records that contain both search terms
  • Use OR to search for records that contain either search term
  • Use NOT to eliminate search records for a specific term

To search for studies related to Salimetrics, you can simply type “Salimetrics” into the search bar. You can also search for various salivary biomarkers research, such as “salivary cortisol”, “salivary IL-6 AND cortisol”, or “”salivary cortisol in psychological research””.
You can use more advanced searching methods if:

  • You need to combine terms/searches
  • You want to search in a specific field
  • You want to set limits for your search (such as language or publication type)

More information on searching PubMed can be found in this tutorial.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar also contains a plethora of saliva-related published articles. You can also use Boolean operators (AND, OR, or NOT) to influence how many records you retrieve as well.
To search for studies related to Salimetrics, you can simply type “Salimetrics” into the search bar. You can also search for various salivary biomarkers research, such as “salivary cortisol” or “salivary IL-6 AND cortisol”.
You can narrow your results in Google Scholar using the filters on the left hand side of the results page. More advanced options are available by clicking the drop-down arrow on the right side of the search bar.
